PHILOSOPHY
For Ke Wen and Marceau Chenault, Qi Dance represents the natural evolution of their practices of martial arts, qigong, meditation and creative techniques in contemporary dance, crossed with their experience of teaching and research.
Qi Dance is research for understanding how Chinese philosophical practices and wisdom can communicate with different Western expressions of the body: it is a bodily language of heart and spirit which develops a harmonious interaction between our being and different situations in life.
(Ke Wen)
Body Education have to be founded on anthropological and phenomenological conceptions of our sensory awareness. We have intuitive experiences, rational interpretations and the socially shared reality of our environment through our perceptions : experience and consciousness of the body define the essence of our presence into the world. Qi Dance is a practice to explore this potentiality of being through the meeting of Eastern traditional practices and wisdom and the Western dance expressions.
(Marceau Chenault)
Qi Dance presents a way of exploration which joins the new transdisciplinary paradigm of many international researchers, expert practitioners and artists who seek for an holistic understanding of human being. In this sense, the purpose of Qi Dance is to participate to the creation of a soma-aestetic language between the sciences, arts and spiritual wisdom of our era.
